How long have you been a Listener on HearMe?
Nada: I joined HearMe about 2 months ago.
Joe: I have been a part of HearMe for more than 3 months now.
What made you decide to become a listener?
Nada: We all need someone to listen to us at some point or the other. I have always been searching for a way to let people know they aren’t alone here and that there is someone who would happily pay complete attention to them. This helped me decide to join HearMe.
Joe: I think it was redemption that helped me decide to become a listener. Helping people is my way to pay it forward. I also struggle with my own mental illness and being here makes me feel better.
What is your most memorable experience as a listener? What feelings does it bring?
Nada: I guess I can’t forget the first person I helped here. It was a precious moment for me when he thanked me. I just felt like I had done something very good to someone here. Before the chat, I felt so useless, so this conversation made me feel that he had helped me as much as I helped him.
Joe: When members thank me after a conversation, I feel so useful and more alive. Knowing that I can help people out there is the best feeling that I have ever got.
How would you describe being a listener to a friend?
Nada: I would tell them that being a listener makes you feel that you’re making changes even if they’re just simple.
Joe: Being a listener here means that I agree to be an open-minded person who is willing to offer both ears and shoulders to others.
How have you benefited from being a listener?
Nada: It has made me think out of the box and has helped me to read more so I can listen actively and make the members know that I can feel what they are talking about. Being a listener has definitely made me feel like I’m not alone.
Joe: It brings me joy. I am getting to know about human feelings deeply by being a listener and through chatting with members.
How would you describe HearMe to your friends and family?
Nada: I find HearMe a reliable, amazing and helpful community. There are so many listeners here who are completely ready to hear, support and help everyone around.
Joe: HearMe is a safe place to vent. It is a platform for every human being on this planet where you can be heard irrespective of your religion, race, or nationality. This is a place where you can let go of all those feelings which might have been trapped inside you.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
Nada: My whole life, I have been a good listener to all of my friends, trying to help them get out of what they might be into but I never thought that it could be helpful for strangers as well which is something I find very interesting.
Joe: I am an artist. I used to be a musician and a boxer as well. I love dogs. I love to look at the sky. I consider myself to be a musicaholic and I enjoy metal music. I live for humanity.
What makes you feel inspired and motivated in your personal life?
Nada: I cannot think of a specific thing but maybe when I see other individuals achieving success, that inspires me.
